In this chapter it talked about Aristotle's 3 qualities of persuasive ethos.Which are:Virtue,Practical Wisdom, and Disinterest. What do these mean you ask? Well virtue means that the audience believes that you are on his/her point of view. That you too are on the same side because you both want the same things.Practical Wisdom means that you always know whats the right thing to do. Then Disinterest means thats you care more about what the audience have to say then yours. The whole purpose is to have the "perfect audience". The audience that is receptive, attentive, finds you appealing, and even trusts you.Cause if thats not your audience then they will not follow you.
What Did I Learn?
From this chapter I learned about how having the "perfect audience" is important if I'm ever trying to persuade the audience into voting for me.Its important because with out them I would have no chance of leading them into voting for me. My "perfect audience" would have Aristotle's 3 traits of persuasive leadership. One would be virtue: having them believe that I am on their side.We want the same things.Another would be practical wisdom; having them to believe or know that every decision I make is the right one in any situation. Then there disinterest;letting my audience think that I worship their opinions more than mine.I also learned about the word character references meaning to let others brag about you rather than yourself.
