In this chapter'Show You Care", the author talked about the word that combines selflessness and likability. The word that is still used today but back than was what determined if someone got elected or not.Im talking about the word called "disinterest goodwill". Its purposes is to make the audience feel or believe that he/she has nothing personal at stake. You show that by showing everything to your audience. From values, effort, riches and even mood. You want to make the audience believe in your selflessness. One way of doing that is by; Act as if the choice you advocate hurts you personally.Lets say your mom makes you eat your vegetables but you hate them. So your mom says" Look when I was your age I hated them too but look how strong it got me and if you eat all your vegetables you'll be just as strong".But even if your whole purpose is to show that you care it doesn't mean your completely honest with your audience.Meaning you just have to know how to act;when, where, and how. That is of course if your not being honest with yourself and the audience.Remember its all for the appearance of having the best interest of your audience.
